2007 High School Scholarship Award Winners

By Steve Lovi, VP

This past June, ESAD had the pleasure of providing scholarships to five deserving high school seniors graduating from their schools around New York State. It was a wonderful experience visiting three of the first five schools listed and meeting these students, their families and classmates. The following 2007 scholarship award winners were:

Marc Zayac from St. Mary’s School for the Deaf in Buffalo. Marc planned to attend Erie Community College (ECC) to major in Heating/Air Conditioning training.

Andrew Wynne from New York State School for the Deaf in Rome. Andrew was accepted at SUNY Canton and planned to major in the Motor Sports training program.

Matthew Poe from Rochester School for the Deaf in Rochester. Matthew was accepted at NTID and planned to major either in the engineering or criminal justice programs.

Reyna Quijada from Mill Neck on Long Island. Reyna was accepted at NTID and planned to explore some different majors before making her decision.

Samantha Luciano from Fanwood School for the Deaf in White Plains. Samantha planned to attend Bronx Community College (BCC) and major in media arts/photography.

This year’s scholarship awards were given in memory of ESAD’s long time scholarship committee member, Teri Pordum who passed away shortly before the scholarships were announced. All five scholarship winners received a $200.00 award along with a framed certificate and two years free membership to ESAD. Congratulations! If you would like to make a donation in memory of Teri Pordum to the Scholarship Fund, please contact Steve Lovi, VP at slovi19@aol.com for further information.
